Desdemona has been belly dancing most of her life. Her unique dance style was cultivated by years of jazz, tap, and modern dance. She has been a professional Middle Eastern Dance Artist for the last 18 years. Desdemona is an accomplished performer, delighting audiences in any venue that she performs. Whether performing in front of a small crowd of restaurant patrons or in front of thousands at a state fair or convention, Desdemona conveys to the audience more than just a knowledge and understanding of Middle Eastern Dance. She is able to connect with the audience on a more personal level and include them in the performance. Her sense of fun, unique style, and obvious love of dance create a bridge across cultures as audiences are entertained by her graceful movements, incredible abdominal undulations, energetic shimmies and her proficiency with the many props she uses in her shows. Desdemona's Troupe, the Dream Harem, is comprised of a sisterhood of fantastic women from all walks of life who have won awards for their spectacular performances. Check out the "Dream Harem" link. From the first class she taught at a local junior college in 1996, Desdemona began to make her dream of owning her own studio a reality and in 2002, Dance Your Dreams opened its doors to dancers in East Texas. "DYD" was the first studio in the area dedicated to the art of Belly Dance. Desdemona is the creator of the "Bust a Gut" Belly Roll workshop TM, and the owner/director of Dance Your Dreams Studio. "Des" is one of the featured Belly Dancers in a soon to be released movie, Homeland Security, starring Antonio Banderas, Meg Ryan, Colin Hanks, and Selma Blair coming this spring 2008. She is currently working on two instructional DVDs.
Desdemona is available for the "Bust A Gut" Bellyroll Workshop. To book Desdemona or The Dream Harem for your event, please call our studio office or email us at desdemona@danceyourdreams.net . Several different themes and show packages are available.
